Derby Laser Hair & Beauty Ltd

Specialist Laser Hair removal and beauty Salon for Women & Men

Laser Hair Removal has been extensively researched, tested and proven highly effective in permanently reducing unwanted hair. It works on just about any treatment area of the body where smooth skin is desired: legs, face, underarms, neck, back, shoulders, bikini line, you name it.

All treatments are carried out by our fully qualified and experienced laser technicians who have been fully trained by Ascelepion Laser Technologies and Schuco International Ltd.

We use the FDA approved Asclepion MeDioStar XT, providing safe and efficient hair reduction. Unwanted hair can now be removed safely and this quality treatment is now offered at competitive prices.

Our laser is one of a wide range of diodes used in medical laser devices, the MeDioStar Effect diode offers elevated power, up to 500 W on the skin. This power ensures greater skin penetration, indispensable in hair removal for destroying the deepest follicles.

Hair grows in three distinct cycles. First, the active or growth cycle (Anagen); next, the dormant cycle (Catagen) and, finally, the fall-out or shedding cycle (Telogen). Laser Hair Removal is most effective during the growth cycle (Anagen).

The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the laser light and converts the light to heat. The heat, in turn, damages the follicle and destroys its ability to re-grow. It is important to treat each follicle during the growth cycle for maximum hair reduction. Thus numerous treatments are needed to capture and destroy the hair follicle while it is in the growth cycle.

The Asclepion MeDioStar XT features two wavelengths in one device. The miXTure of the 810 nm and 940 nm wavelength offers a more gentle and safer treatment on darker skin types.

Asclepion MeDioStar XT has become a representation of safe hair reduction. Its high power reaches hair follicles at deeper levels. Even when using high energy, the application always remains delicate, guaranteeing low risk and gentle treatment for patients. The laser light penetrates the superficial skin layers, and the melanin pigments contained in the hair follicles absorb the energy. This absorption turns the light energy into heat, damaging the surrounding cell layers, which are responsible for hair regrowth.

The integrated Skin cooling device ensures safe and gentle treatment. The Asclepion MeDioStar XT is fitted with a cooling system that cools the area to be treated. This enhances patient comfort and safety during the treatment. A monitoring system inside the laser device regulates the cooling level, always keeping the skin temperature low and ensuring nearly pain-free, extremely delicate treatment for all skin types.

Q. Can I still remove hair between treatments?

You can shave or use a depilatory cream or trim hairs. You should avoid waxing, electrolysis or plucking or any method that removes the hair from the follicles.

Q. Are there any side effects?

Several minutes after treatment, slight swelling and redness may be present in the treated area for up to 8 hours. The treatment area may feel tender or warm, similar to mild sunburn. Side effects can be minimised by avoiding sun exposure for 4 weeks prior to and during treatment.

Q. What does it feel like?

The laser on the skin has been described in many different ways. Some say it feels like a pinch on the skin, others say it feels like a mild rubber band snap or that it feels cool.

Q. Am I suitable for laser hair removal treatment?

Most people, male and female, are suitable candidates for laser hair removal, although we do not treat women during pregnancy or people under 18 years old.

Q. How many treatments will I need?

Not all hairs are actively growing at the same time. They actually go through distinct phases: growing, resting and dying off. The laser treatment works by disabling hair that is in the active growth phase at the time of treatment.

On average, most clients are happy with 6 treatments, however since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all hair follicles in a given area. Treatments are usually given at intervals of 6-12 weeks, depending on the particular area of the body being treated and the density of the hair in that area. Our staff will work with you to develop the best treatment program during your consultation.

Q. What is the difference between Laser and Intense Pulse Light (IPL)?

LASER is a very special type of light that has three characteristics that separate it as the brightest, most powerful light known to mankind. LASER light is monochromatic (i.e. one colour) so this means nearly 100% of LASER light is ONE pure colour. Intense pulse light (IPL) is NOT monochromatic, meaning that IPL has many different colours and only a small percentage of these colours are effective in the treatment of hair reduction.

LASER is collimated meaning it's slow to diverge or spread out. This makes LASER light very powerful as nearly 100% of the light can be effective in the treatment of hair reduction. IPL is NOT collimated and so therefore is quick to spread out making it less effective in the treatment of hair reduction.

Finally LASER is coherent meaning that the light is totally reinforcing and doesn't cancel itself out whereas IPL is NOT coherent and is NOT reinforcing making it less effective in the treatment of hair reduction.

Crystal Clear Microdermabrasion is recommended as "one of the best salon facials" for fine lines and wrinkles, in a guide to looking 10 years younger in 10 days.

What is Crystal clear microdermabrasion?

Crystal Clear Microdermabrasion takes years off your complexion by gently exfoliating the outer layers of skin. Because it’s a safe and controlled method of skin resurfacing, the treatment can be used to solve a wide range of skin concerns on both the face and body.

Microdermabrasion provides immediate and visible results for ageing skin, lines and wrinkles, open pores, blackheads, pigmentation, blemish scars, acne scars, stretch marks and so much more. You’ll see the difference after just one treatment; however for more problematic skin a course of treatments may be required.

With regular treatments, the skin increases its collagen and elastin formation, giving you a naturally firmer and rejuvenated appearance. Building on this, the gentle vacuum action gives the facial muscles a mini workout each time, providing an immediate lifting effect and an on-going improvement in tone.

What are the benefits of this treatment?

Crystal Clear Skin System is the perfect salon treatment as it delivers instant, visible, results. It is suitable for all skin colours and all skin types and can be used to treat a wide range of skin problems on the face. Salon applications include:

  • A complete perfect facial
  • Perfect for aging skin as it visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Excellent results on acne scaring
  • Pigmentation
  • Sun damaged skin

What is involved?

The Crystal Clear handset is placed on to the skin and a microscopic flow of crystals is directed onto the surface of the skin. The speed of the crystals, together with their abrasive nature, gently removes the epidermal cells layer by layer. Used crystals and dead skin cells are drawn away through the vacuum action.

Used crystals and dead skin cells are drawn away through the vacuum action, allowing for the controlled exfoliation of the Stratum Corneum.

The gentle vacuum action also achieves an immediate lifting effect on tired muscles and stimulates the blood supply to the skin’s surface to help promote new collagen and elastin formation.

Specific attention is given to any areas of concern such as open pores, fine lines & wrinkles, blemished skin or acne scaring, resulting in dramatically rejuvenated skin.

What happens when I come for treatment?

First of all, we discuss your skin concerns and devise a treatment plan to suit your individual needs. We then go through come or all of the following stages, depending on the treatment you have chosen.

We thoroughly cleanse the skin with Crystal Clear soothing Cleansing Gel to remove any deep-seated impurities. We rinse with warm water and dry the skin

thoroughly ready for the Crystal clear Microdermabrasion.

Next we pass the specially- designed hand piece over the face and neck, gently removing dead skin cells and stimulating the production of new collagen and elastic formation.

Then we work over any areas of concern such as open pores, wrinkles, blemished skin, pigmentation or acne scarring. We concentrate on these areas to stimulate the cell renewal process to achieve a clearer, fresher complex.

We create a firming and lifting effect by using the vacuum action of the handset along the contours of the face, an isometric movement is achieved which results in an immediate and obvious lift.

Once the Microdermabrasion and lifting part of the treatment is complete, we apply a crystal clear mini mask lift and leave to set, to achieve maximum hydration and firming benefits.
